On behalf of the Centre for Excellence on Empathy, Equity & Diversity (CEEED), we join with all the citizens to celebrate Canadian Multiculturalism Day.

International Webinar Series #3 (Conversation to unbox social/digital inequalities)

An International Webinar on “Cultural Mindfulness” organized by CEEED was held on June 22, 2022, with an audience from across the globe. The proceedings Video is released now for public viewing.

Dr. Mohamed Taher, Librarian/CIO, Canadian Multifaith Federation, and CEEED’s Committee Member introduced the speakers. Dr. Abdulhamid Hathiyani, Global Consultant and CEEED’s Chair conducted the proceedings of the webinar.

The Guest speech on The Many Meanings of Mindfulness was by Dr. Ellen Choi, Assistant Professor, HRM/OB Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University).

The key speech was on Mindfulness in a Time of Turbulence: For a Caring Heart of Libraries, Archives and Museums (LAM) by Stephen Abram, MLS, CEO, Lighthouse Consulting, Inc., and former ED, the Federation of Ontario Public Libraries. Stephen shared his insights and philosophies that underpin resilience, nimbleness, innovation, creativity, and success - personally and professionally. Mindfulness is awareness. We are NOT returning to normal. We, as a profession, are responding and building a NEXT normal - one that accommodates changes in our lives, users, and society.
